The short answers
Timing, honestly.
- When is the best month for a safari?
- There is no single best month. It depends on what you want to see. For the Serengeti calving season and the densest predator action, January to March. For the Mara River crossings, July to September. For quiet parks and low prices, the green season of April and May. Use the planner above to see what each month actually offers.
- When are the Great Migration river crossings?
- Usually July to September, in the northern Serengeti and the Masai Mara. They are unpredictable, so we place you in the right region with enough nights that the odds fall in your favour.
- Is it worth going in the green season?
- Often, yes. April and May bring the long rains, lower prices and near-empty parks, and the calving-season plains are still lush. The trade-off is tougher roads and a chance of rain on a drive. For the right traveller it is the best value of the year.
