Planning Kenya.
- When is the best time for a Kenya safari?
- July to October is peak season. The Masai Mara fills with migrating herds and the river crossings happen. January to March is drier, hotter and quieter, with excellent big-cat viewing. The long rains in April and May bring low prices and lush, empty parks.
- How many days do I need in Kenya?
- Three days is enough for a focused Masai Mara trip. Five days lets you pair the Mara with the Rift Valley lakes. Seven to ten days opens up Amboseli, Samburu and the northern conservancies, which is where Kenya stops being a postcard and starts being a country.
- Is Kenya good for a first safari?
- It is arguably the best first safari in Africa. The infrastructure is mature, the drives between parks are manageable, and the density of wildlife in the Mara means you are rarely waiting long for something extraordinary.
